Reading for Folx
quick note from recent days
Over the weekend, I read for a flurry of people at a Cryptid themed dark market. I’ve read for this event before and it’s usually around the eclipses. For this one, I made yokai inspired tarot prayer candles. I’ll drop some images below and if you want me to email you the file, you can print them off and afix to a 7” glass prayer candle for your own altar.
This is the view from my side of the table:
I had this vintage card tablecloth that my grandmother owned back in the 70’s. A piece of citrine and (out of site) rose quartz. I brought two decks to give people a choice but everyone chose the Rider Wait Smith deck. Here are some notes from the readings. I only do live events once every few months so I always feel like a new kid at the park:
Once the table is set, I sit and just shuffle the cards. It’s almost an instant way to bring someone towards me. If I’m casually breathing air in between the spaces, that catches someone’s attention and they come over. When I need a break, I will set the cards down and put a crystal on it. This allows both me and the cards to charge back up
For this night, the common thread that 90% of the people had was: zero questions. Most people didn’t know why they were sitting in the chair. It took more nuance to settle into the reading but I embraced each one.
Most people had some big Leo energy and I found myself drawn to the August eclipse coming up. It manifested in various ways but so many Leo moons in the crowd.
Scotland as a place kept recurring. My AC astrocartography runs along Scotland’s eastern coast.
The Queen of Cups, 6 of Swords & 6 of wands returned more than any others.
I give away stickers as a way to allow people to linger at the table without having to buy anything. But then I “read” their stickers and freak them out haha. One woman saw the Three of Wands sticker and said “gotdammit this card won’t leave me alone!”
On another note, in a few days I am launching The Decan Walk as a free guide for anyone who wants to
create a weekly ritual
learn tarot, astrology & omen
attend to your personal magic for a season/for the year
If you’re curious, just subscribe for a month and see how you like it!
