Full Swoon in Capricorn
Cancer Crab hosts the Goat Moon
Y’ALL: LOOK AT THE MOON. IT IS LOOKING AT YOU.
For the Cancer new moon in June, I published this 18 page guide that is available still. It’s a plant+planetary guide designed to prompt/tickle/inspire you to converse with the new and full moons alongside curated plant allies. I’ve update it to include the first full moon of January 2026 (and removed the New Moon in Cancer from June bc #oldnews cant work with past magic). The guide is there for instant access if you want to plan out your moon herbs ahead of time and have the journal prompts for things to consider during the moons. Thirteen moons
Each moon I write (right here) a bit about why I chose the food and herbal allies. These are not definitive lists but ones that surfaced when I contemplated each chart. Herbal medicine is one that connects you with the larger energies, similar to astrology. It is also ages old tradition where you do need to read about those who have more experience than you. Don’t always wing it when it comes to plants. Herbs work. (Ask anyone who has been stung by nettle) Through preparing for this moon, I found this website to suggest, because they’ve been diligent in compiling great information on magic, plants and astrology: Alchemy Works. A good many herbs they list for the planets are not as easily accessible though, but if you do find you’re drawn to any I would recommend Mountain Rose Herbs, Five Flavors Herbals, Four Elements Herbals and Red Moon Herbs as quality herb producers. The ones that I write about should be easy to access in most communities. Search your natural foods stores, Asian, Hispanic & Euro grocers and then buy online if you can’t find locally.
Back to this moon. A Capricorn Full Moon in Cancer season and a big, fat white moon. Here is the chart for my location:
The Sun is being hosted by the moon and the Moon is being hosted by Saturn. Saturn is visiting Mars’ temple and is slowing down (two days later it stations retrograde). Mars is in Mercury’s temple approaching a black hole just kidding: Ketu while Mercury is standing proud and solo in the middle of Leo, the Sun’s temple. It’s a regular round of Astrological musical chairs. Who sings the final note? Is this a moment of multidimensional feedback? Full moons can bring a gnawing anxiety that is felt in the body. The plants and herbs I suggested for this month are there to bring some soothing to the frayed ends, the electrified nerves, the tired or dehydrated tissues and to HYDRATE GURL. This is a full moon ruled by both malefics so I felt like we needed some positive collateral for bargaining peace. It’s also a time to show your work. I bet some work has been done in the Capricorn places of your life. It’s universal show and tell: whatcha got?
Here are the herbs to add to your apothecary for the Capricorn Full Moon
Milky Oats: A gentle herb best for chronic issues or symptoms that need nourishment. Milky oats can help restore an electrified, disordered nervous system. You harvest the plant when the oats are in “the milky stage” and if this doesn’t scream “Cancer” then what does?! If you grow oats, when they are still fairly young, you squeeze the oat grains and if a milky substance is released, they are ready. They weep milk. This time of year, you can find them dry and just make sure they’ve got a vibrant green color. If they are straw colored or brown, then they may not be as fresh or properly dried. Do what you can though, the life force is in there. Make a simple tea and drink either warm or cold. I like an overnight cold infusion (in either water or a milk) to cool a hot-headed and taxed nervous system. They have such a mild flavor, they are an easy medicinal plant to add to other tea mixes. Lemongrass, lemon balm, red clover, nettle, rose, hibiscus, chamomile, ashwaganda, tulsi, calendula all blend well with milky oats.
Nettle: Nettle is nourishing #cancer and detoxyfying #capricorn. It’s your best Capricorn Full Moon plant. Hands down.
The sting of the nettle plant is an easy Mars correspondence. And where does Mars exalt? Capricorn. Nettle is a blood purifier & blood builder. #marscoded The nutritional medicine in Nettle Urtica dioica is phenomenol: Calcium, Magnesium, Potassium, Protein, Silica, Beta Carotene, Iron, Chlorophyll, Vitamin C and Phytoestrogens. They are industrious with their medicinal spectrum. Eat the fresh leaves like you would spinach (in the early spring), dry the leaves for tea to use year round, make a nettle infused vinegar (vinegar is the preferred menstruum for extracting minerals) or make a delicious oxymel. Collect the nettle seed in the fall and add them to food like you would Hemp seeds, a wild plant based protein! Nettle root can also be gathered (late fall/winter) to be used to battle UTIs and to relieve osteoarthritis symptoms. It is a powerhouse plant. I love to grow nettle in my yard. I grow it along the boundaries like a protective Saturnine influence. For this summer, make a cold full moon tea with an overnight soak with no heat. Strain in the morning and keep in the fridge. Drink within three days.
Lemon Balm: Mamas give this to their crying, babies as even just the smell will bring down a tantrum. Our inner child is always running around somewhere inside, maybe they’d like to breath in this lush, bright, sunny fragrant plant to break a positive vibe into a sour mood? Another great plant for a cool tea, Lemon Balm is my summer go-to fresh herb. It grows so lush, there’s usually plenty of it in the garden. If you can find it fresh, grab it for a cool infusion tea. Just grab a sprig and put it in your water glass. It helps calm you, helps you sleep (but isn’t a sedative), elevates your mood, aids digestion. It goes with savory meals and you can candy them as a sweet treat garnish (with a bright punchy lemon flavor).
Cucumber & Papaya: Both of these water heavy fruits remind me of the moon. There’s something straight up vulva-esque about the Papaya, yes, but it’s more than fruit smut. Finding a papaya green and shredding it up to make a Vietnamese or Thai Green Papaya Slaw ส้มตำไทย (som tum) is the most energetic cooling side dish during this hot season. RECIPE There’s spice in the recipe but the acidic papaya brings the watery crunch that is Cancer/Capricorn coded. The latex inherent in the young papaya skin soothes burns & irritated skin from bug bites. (Latex looks like milk) Called “The fruit of the angels”, Papaya is excellent for the skin whether applied topically or ingested. Enzymatically rich, you can mash fresh papaya onto the skin for an active skin mask. It brings blood flow to the skin and leaves it silky soft.

Cucumber holds tons of water (up to 96% of its body weight) as well as loads of trace minerals. The famed silica that makes your hair shiny and skin glow is rich in cukes. The thing about cucumbers, if you’ve ever grown them, they are a bellweather for bees. If you’ve had a cucumber plant that has produced runners and flowers but never got any fruit, chances are you didn’t have enough bees. If you have a bumper crop of cucumbers, your local bees are happy. Bees can be associated with other planets (Venus/Honey, Mercury/Busy bee-ness) but the diligence and community under the queen matriarch is all lunar to me. Bees correspond to the lunar cycle. “The body weight of honeybees peaks during new Moon.”
For most cucumber varieties, you also have the kitsch of cutting them into full moon shapes and placing the slices over your eyes. The inside of a cucumber can be 20 degrees cooler than the outside. Let the cool, watery medicine of this old plant soothe your tired lights.
Both of these fruits are ones that you can put on your face, directly on the skin, in a full-moon-self-care-skin-care-made-of-fresh-food just for Cancer season.
