Last year, a new astrology friend and I began to record our conversations about the astrological weather. Mandi Rae and I met on Twitter in 2022 through mutual astrology folks and bonded through our music world connections. We had many friends in common through music venues, bands, writers and festival connections but didn’t know each other until it came to astrology. Her band ended up watching my husband’s band play in Alabama and a friendship was forged between our families. She and I met on Zoom in 2024 to chat astrology and we had so much easy fun together we decided to try our hand at recording monthly forecasts together for our mutual YouTube channels. It has been a full year of recording. With the exception October, when Hurricane Helene hit me & rendered me without every modern convenience including electricity, cell service & internet for over a month, Mandi & I have gathered in conversation about the astrology ahead every month for a year.
I love having a talented and conversational astrology friend who is game to talk about the transits in a way that folks resonate with. People comment to me “Its fun to listen to you two talk, like y’all are just hanging out!” This is exactly how it feels and I’m grateful for Mandi to be such an easy hang.
Being an astrologer can be a lonely thing. Depending on where you are in the world, you may be the only one that you know who studies this stuff. The hermitage of astrological study is real. After the connections made possible by social media, the world of astrology has changed but many of the realities of ostratization and devaluing the study by the broader public still exists. I am protective of this work and I have learned to hold my astrology cards close to my chest. Being laughed at in the face, watching someone’s eyes glaze over or being avoided the rest of the evening after saying the words aloud “I am an astrologer” takes its own toll on a person. So, meeting and connecting with other folks through this practice and with this language isn’t something that I take for granted at all.
I come from a cloistured, religious background that denies anything not explicitly condoned by the church elders as wrong (potentially evil or something that needs approval before exploring on your own.) When I began to read about astrology as a young teenager in the 1990’s, I kept this study completely secret. The more I read, the more I kept it to myself, hiding the books in the floorboard of my closet, under the pink carpet with my love letters & cash stash (among other things that I am still not ready to reveal just in case anyone reads this haha. Scorpio rising always has a stash)
To be able to study openly and share with others through astrology is a personal success for me. Thank you for being a part of this reading, being a client, a subscriber, a friend or a colleague (or all of the above simultaneously)
The April forecast will post in a few days on YouTube. Please subscribe here.
Until then, here is a calendar of transits heading our way
Until next time, happy spring!
