~Arium: The Moon is Full yet Eclipsed in Virgo
Let the next layer of junk be sorted
During each eclipse, the messages coming into my sphere begin circulating with intensity. Questions are throttled at me from friends & clients with a fierce urgency that is hard to ignore. This is the energy that eclipses stir up, there is a disruption in the force and whether you “believe in astrology” or not. People sense that disruption and those in my orbit tend to message me with a particular vibe during the weeks around eclipses. They themselves are getting a message and are wanting to check in to:
ask wth is going on
what does XYZ omen mean
ask about the eclipse
The disruption is agitating and there’s a distrust in the normal answers you might tell yourself. Eclipses are just weird feeling. Like the princess & the pea, there’s just something not quite right…that something needs to be investigated. Tomorrow’s eclipse in Virgo is within a series of Virgo/Pisces axis eclipses that began in 2024 when we saw the first Virgo Full Moon eclipse on March 14 2025. This year’s eclipse on March 3 will be the second of three Full Eclipsed moons in this cycle (Final one on February 20 2027)
Think back to a year ago & consider the area of life that Virgo represents in your chart. Think:Virgo House & what was illuminated then? I looked back at my photos on my phone to see what I could find. I read tarot for strangers at a popular, chthonic market in my town. It was the first time that I read for that many people in a busy market & it was invigorating but depleting! I lost my voice because I read for so many people, non stop, for 5 hours. It exhausted me. I left feeling giddy & absolutely emptied. It helped me see my limits of reading for strangers, showed me how I can provide service for my larger community & forced me to give up the ideas of perfection. In a live, fast paced reading like those, there isn’t a time to curate a detailed “perfect” reading (Virgo) it requires trust that the right message is coming through, that the big picture will be provided (Pisces).
I found a carcass of a bobcat on the eclipse day. It was on the road to the studio that I worked at. I passed it, saw that it was something big so I turned around but wasn’t able to safely park (windy river road). I was able to identify it as a large bobcat though, not quite a cougar but more than a house cat. I didn’t like the idea of it rotting on the asphalt but also knew that the turkey vultures need to eat, so I left it. I didn’t know it at the time but found out weeks later my job at the recording studio was ending because the owners decided to close. The decision was made on the eclipse, but we didn’t find out until after the eclipse window had passed. Was the bobcat a sign for me that the path I was taking to the studio had a death date? Bobcat is similar medicine to Lynx in that they hold secrets & can see the unseen worlds. Was the dead part of this story telling me that my ability to see into the unseen (which I do in dreams) was being temporarily eclipsed itself? The studio officially closed six months later but has been reborn under new owners this month. !!
In a week, I’ll be reading tarot for the same market but under different circumstances. No eclipse craziness, just the Mercury Rx + cazimi craziness. The Saturn-Neptune craziness. The Jupiter direct craziness. Venus in Aries craziness.
There’s no shortage of crazy entertainment in astrology these days.
(Said every astrologer, ever)
Moving on to the Herbs for this Moon, I am going to be short & sweet:
Thyme, Spearmint, Elderflower, Self Heal & Persimmon are the plants that came to mind for this eclipse moon.
Thyme Thymus vulgaris is an old herb, used in ancient rituals surrounding death, sleep & courage. Bundles of thyme would be bound & burned to bring in aromatics into homes but also used in ritual burials and embalming. Sweet maidens would give bundles of thyme to Knights going off to fight the King’s wars, it symbolize their courage. Sleep with a sprig of thyme under your pillow & it was said to aid in bravery if you had nightmares.
For modern day, thyme is ubiquitous for many spice mixes and so I didn’t just want to share a recipe like Brown Butter Thyme Rolls but also wanted to encourage you to spend time (pun intended) with the sprigs themselves. It’s not the growing season for thyme yet but you can find potted thyme in garden shops or even cut in grocery store produce departments. The plant is so humble & joyful, very Virgo. It will adapt to situations, provides both function & a bit of flavor. It is petite and sprawling, made of many tiny leaves. It is durable but also very aromatic if you rub it the wrong way :) It can be soft and woody, grow low to the ground or all wild & crazy. It is very mutable.
Add a bit of thyme plant in your day: carry around a fresh sprig in your wallet or pocket and just see if it speaks to you. Common kitchen spices can seem boring, but if you just get to know it outside of its spice-mix-bretheren (looking at you, Oregano, Marjoram & Basil) then you find some sweet surprises. Thyme is mercurial, so it has a message for you. Who doesn’t need a bit of courage, anyway.
Spearmint Mentha spicata is one of the spiciest mints out there. A fresh, punchy mint with a bit of spiked flavor, spearmint can hold its own in any conversation. It cleans your breath, your pallet and aids in digestion. If given the right sunlight and drainage, it can take over a spot in your garden for the bees & it holds its flavor the longest after it’s dried. A simply spearmint (fresh or dried) tea with honey is a childhood elixir to brighten the mind and bring joy to the heart.
Elderflower Sambucus canadensis is the flowering part of the same plant that we get elderberries from. Elderberry has its place in the popular herbal lexicon for its amazing antiviral properties, but the flowers are not to be overlooked. The flower heads are these gorgeous white, frilly umbels that contain a ton of vitamin C. You can lightly batter and fry them like squash blossoms, but most folks will avoid the fry and just drink the flowers in a tea. The tea will aid in upper respiratory ailments like seasonal allergies and even help reduce fevers. It has a slight diuretic effect and may even help lower blood sugar. Elderflower reminds me of the Vestal Virgins but why that is requires a longer post than tonight’s. TBD
Selfheal Prunella vulgaris is also called Heal All and is about the sweetest flower out there. You may have seen it in wild places or in your own yard. It is a very humble weed that is both edible and widely medicinal. Like the good Virgo friend who is ready to help with whatever you need, Selfheal can assist with thyroid, pinkeye, cancer, tuberculosis, gingivitis, dementia, hypertension...Imagine that friend who has every possible thing you need in their purse: SelfHeal. It’s excellent for moving lymph, which carries waste out of the body (#virgo) but is also antiviral and aids in digestion. A humble superhero of the herb world, the sweet prunella
Lastly, we have the gorgeous Persimmon, Diospyros kaki, is a plant that is about 2000 years old, cultivated in ancient China. It is versatile (mutable) full of antioxidants and fiber, which helps regulate blood sugar. We’re at the end of the season for persimmons, so if you can find any in a local store, try them before their season fades. I wanted to include them because they are so great for digestive health & blood sugar, but also because I don’t hear about them enough. They’re one of those quiet fruits that is passed over for the exotic mango or dragonfruit. Persimmon has a place in your fruit bowl, just as Virgo has a place in your chart.
That is all for tonight. Tend to your gut during this moon, ground with some humble foods and find a pattern from last year’s eclipse + this years = what may come to full form in 2027’s Full Moon Eclipse in Virgo.
